Biodiversity Festival: BioBlitz of McGill's Campuses

We're thrilled to invite you to participate in McGill’s BioBlitz, which will take place during the Biodiversity Festival, a week-long celebration of biodiversity and scientific exploration at McGill taking place from Sept. 18 to Sept. 26. The BioBlitz will take place on the Downtown campus, Macdonald campus, and Gault Nature Reserve.

What's a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is an exciting event where scientists, naturalists, and the community come together to survey and document as many species as possible in a specific area over a set period. It's a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with the incredible diversity of life that calls our campuses home.

Who can participate?

This event is open to everyone - students, staff, faculty, and community members of all ages. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a budding scientist, or just looking for a fun outdoor activity, there will be something for everyone!

How to Get Involved

Whether you decide to join one of the Biodiversity Festival’s guided nature walks or venture on your own, all you need to participate is your phone, the iNaturalist app and an account.

You have the app and are not sure how to start uploading observations?

Stop by the Gault Nature Reserve booth on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Y-intersection of the Downtown campus between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. to get started or consult one of our handy guides:

We look forward to seeing what you discover!
