To wrap up the field season, our team of field assistants organized a BioBlitz to document the biodiversity around the Penfield Research Station on Lake Memphremagog.
During a full day of intensive exploration, the eight participants surveyed the shoreline, forested areas, and nearby wetlands to inventory as many species as possible. The result: 189 species recorded and 426 observations logged, ranging from aquatic plants to insects, birds, and amphibians.
This initiative helps enrich our ecological database, supports regional biodiversity monitoring efforts, and highlights the importance of the protected habitats surrounding the station.
